Family lunches

We had a trial of family service lunches last term and it was very successful. The aim is for the older children to help the younger children at the tables, helping the older children to develop their caring and leadership roles within the school and encouraging the younger children to be confident with the older children. The idea is to enjoy a family atmosphere, also following table etiquette, like waiting for everybody to be seated before starting to eat and for everybody to be finished before leaving the table.

It was lovely today to see the new children so well cared for and the older children glowing with pride in their roles. Well done to you all...

Local History and Geography Week- Visit from The Norfolk Records Office

We have been very lucky to have a visit from a local history expert, who brought copies of records about Bressingham, including maps, photographs, Census information, Trade Directories and transcripts of these, to enable us to read them more easily.

There were lots of activities, that helped us to understand what life was like at the start of the twentieth century- about 1900:

What were houses like?
What were families like?
How many people lived in houses together?
How old were people?
What were their jobs?
Where would you go to buy soap, Easter cards, ginger beer, wheels, and many other things?
Where were these places that you could go to buy things in or near to Bressingham?

Hilltop Residential- Day 1

We are here, settled into our dorms and have already done many outdoor activities, including: teamwork challenges, agility and an assault course! One group did a long zip wire and scrambled on bikes. Here are some photos of our day so far...

Then some time in the games room or the quiet room...

Tonight the long walk to Sheringham!

And here we are, in Sheringham, with our ice creams and looking out to sea, where some of us saw a seal...

Good night!

Chocolate- responses from the Governors to our letters

Last month, Kestrel Class wrote letters to the Governors, to ask them if we may be able to sell chocolate in our new school tuck shop.

In response, last week, the Clerk to the Governors sent us a letter, on behalf of the Governors, thanking us for our letters and saying how impressed they were.

Furthermore, Mr Wimshurst, our Chair of Governors, visited us today. He said, "I have been a Governor here since before you were born, and this is the nicest thing that has ever happened!" He also said that he was impressed and that he was interested to read all the different views that we had, including that about half the class were not in favour of selling chocolate at the tuck shop. He felt that as we were so thoughtful, he felt that the children should make the decision. One member of Kestrels suggested that perhaps only 2 squares of chocolate should be sold.

Very kindly, Mr Wimshurst gave us some high quality dark chocolate to try...Delicious- thank you!
